NHCA members are encouraged to nominate a deserving member for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 1999 in order to recognize the distinguished career of Don Gasaway. The award has been presented only three times: Don in 2000 at the Denver, Colorado conference; Alice Suter in 2008 at the Portland, Oregon conference, and Elliott Berger in 2013 at the St. Petersburg, Florida conference.
This prestigious award represents the highest honor bestowed by the National Hearing Conservation Association and is intended to recognize a lifetime of extraordinary accomplishments in the hearing loss prevention profession as well as in service to NHCA. It allows NHCA to honor an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions to hearing conservation through a body of quality work. These contributions, whether they have been in research, leadership, or mentorship, must have had a lasting impact on the hearing conservation field and the public and must have demonstrated a lifetime commitment to prevention of noise induced hearing loss. In other words, recipients must have had a career of sustained extraordinary contributions both to our profession as well as to NHCA.
Recipients of the NHCA Lifetime Achievement Award receive waived conference and workshop registration fees for as long as they wish to attend.
