New OSHA Position on HPD
It appears that OSHA is taking the advice of NHCA and the Industrial
Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) to heart. A revision to
OSHA's Technical Manual chapter on Noise Measurement (www.osha-slc.gov/dts/osta/otm/otm_iii/otm_iii_5.html)
lays out the OSHA position on the NHCA Task Force findings and
ANSI S12.6-1997. The NHCA Task Force recommendations are included
in the Technical Manual as Appendix III:5-2.
OSHA at this point appears to support dual labeling of HPD,
using both the EPA NRR label and the new NRR(SF).
