Audiometric Calculators
  • BHI Calculator  computes the Binaural Hearing Impairment (BHI) according to the method of the American Medical Association (AMA) given the individual’s audiometric thresholds.
  • Audiometric Testing, Permissible-Noise Calculator – computes the maximum permissible ambient noise levels (MPANLs) that can be present during audiometric testing according to ASA/ANSI S3.1-1999 (R2018). Such values will produce negligible masking of pure-tone test signals presented as specified in ASA/ANSI S3.6-2018 (R2023).
  • NIPTS Calculator  computes the expected median and 95th percentile values for noise-induced permanent threshold shift (NIPTS) for frequencies between 0.5 and 6 kHz, as well as the AMA speech frequency average, given the level and duration of an individual's noise exposure. Source: Created by Robert Dobie, MD, deceased. Reproduced with permission of the Dobie family.
  • ARHL Calculator – computes the expected median and 95th percentile values of age-related hearing loss (ARHL) averaged across the AMA speech frequencies (0.5, 1, 2, and 3 kHz), given an individual's age and gender. Source: Created by Robert Dobie, MD, deceased. Reproduced with permission of the Dobie family.
  • STS Expected Contributions Calculator – computes the median expected age-related hearing loss (ARHL) and noise-induced permanent threshold shift (NIPTS) during an interval over which an OSHA standard threshold shift (STS) has been observed. Inputs are gender, age at the beginning and end of the interval, and noise exposure level and duration prior to and during the interval. Source: Created by Robert Dobie, MD, deceased. Reproduced with permission of the Dobie family.
Noise Measurement Calculators
  • Noise Dosimetry Data Management – takes noise dosimetry data and reported work-shift length, and normalizes the results to an 8-hour equivalent noise exposure and percent dose according to OSHA, MSHA, and ACGIH criteria.
  •  Exposure estimation – calculates the accumulated noise dose and time-weighted average (TWA) noise exposure for particular activities using OSHA, MSHA, and ACGIH criteria.
  • dB averaging – computes the logarithmic average of the input decibel values, useful for example to compute the average sound level in an area based on multiple measurements at different locations.
