NHCA Letter to Department of Health & Human Services in Support of NIOSH

The National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) is urging the Department of Health and Human Services to prioritize occupational hearing loss as a major public health issue. Millions of workers are exposed to hazardous noise and ototoxic chemicals, leading to serious health consequences including cognitive decline and cardiovascular conditions. Military personnel are particularly affected, with hearing-related injuries being a leading cause of disability. NHCA emphasizes the critical role of NIOSH in hearing loss prevention and expresses concern over recent workforce reductions that threaten essential research. The organization calls for the restoration of scientific staffing at NIOSH to protect worker health and national productivity.
