Webinar Title: Tools for Teaching Awareness from the Intersection of Music, Audio and Audiology

Date/Time: July 9, 2025, 2:00pm - 3:00pm Eastern Time

About the Webinar: The newly emerging hearing conservation sub-specialty known as “music audiology” addresses the unique needs of musicians and sound engineers as they rely on their highly developed hearing acuity to successfully practice their art/craft. This presentation will introduce attendees to the language, knowledge and mindset of the music and audio industries. By understanding how musicians and audio engineers work with and think about music and sound, hearing science professionals can develop a new set of “tools” for teaching hearing awareness to their patients and clients.

CEUs: 1-hour CEU (AAA and 0.1 ASHA CEU)

May Webinar Roundup
On May 21, NHCA and CAOHC jointly hosted "Auditory Fitness for Duty," a compelling webinar that tackled a critical question: How do we determine if someone's hearing is truly adequate for their job's demands? Three leading researchers took attendees beyond traditional hearing conservation approaches to explore strategies for assessing hearing fitness in occupational and military settings. The presentation delved into the world of hearing-critical tasks, revealing how job requirements drive the need for specialized functional hearing assessments that go beyond standard threshold testing.

Participants we taught the key differences between measuring what someone can hear versus auditory tasks relevant for real-world environments. We thank our exceptional panel of experts for delivering this presentation: Douglas Brungart, Ph.D., Chief Scientist at Walter Reed's National Military Audiology and Speech Pathology Center; Odile Clavier, Ph.D., Principal Investigator at Creare; and Christian Giguère, Ph.D., Professor in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Ottawa. More information about past and future webinars can be found here.
